1922 In 1922, at the age of 14, Philo Farnsworth read an article about the possibility of combining radio and motion pictures and transmitting this new media instantly into homes, just as radio was already doing.
1927 On January 7, 1927 Philo Farnsworth applied for his first patent. This date is considered the official date of the invention of television.
1927 On September 7, 1927 a first successful demo was done by Philo Farnsworth, which showed a black horizontal line, which was flipped into a vertical line. Many years of engineering followed to perfect the system.
1935 In the summer of 1935, the first public demonstration of television took place at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. The demonstration lasted for three weeks during which people could see themselves viewed on the screen. A time followed of defining and setting standards among different systems from different manufacturers, and for finalizing patent ownerships.
1939 In March of 1939 final contracts and notes were prepared which would ultimately launch Farnsworth Radio & Television Corp. Not much later World War II began.
1939
In April of 1939, Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd President of the USA, became the first president of the United States to appear on television. Although defense contracts were abundant for Farnsworth Radio & Television Corp, World War II slowed the development of television for domestic use. The production of television sets and other domestic products would truly start after World War II.

1971
Philo T. Farnsworth died in 1971. One of his biggest moments in life was on July 20 th (July 21 st GMT) 1969 when he watched 'his' television to see Neil Armstrong set man's first steps on the moon [see http://www.panoramas.dk]

2000
At the end of 2000 Philo Farnsworth was named one of TIME Magazine's 100 Greatest Scientists and Thinkers of the 20th Century
